What do you have to do when you experience an earthquake? Perhaps you might seek shelter under a table or under a doorframe. If you are a geologist, however, you also need to collect data and measure what you are experiencing. In case you were wondering, yes, there is an app for that! When a group of us at the RCC visited the earthquake simulator at the Museum Mensch und Natur at Schloss Nymphenburg, geology professor Anke Friedrich brought an iPad with an app to measure the different simulated seismic activities. What you see here is the iPad lying on the simulator’s floor, ready to collect data of any movement.
